Demo Day

Demo day was actually a construction day. A day of building the the Look Good... Feel Better Program sponsored by the American Cancer Socity into the every day treatment at the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institut in Little Rock Arkansas. When Cancer patients come to the Cancer Institute the know that they will be getting the best medical care. Now they know they will be getting the best all around care. Not only will they be treated for there cancer they will be treated for the side effects of cancer as well.

This is the first time the Cancer Institute has ever offered a program like this on site. I am proud to be a a part of the team that can make this happen. This program sponsored by the American Cancer Society and partnered with the Cancer Institute is a big step in the right direction in the fight against cancer. I cant wait for our first Look Good... Feel Better Program to take place. The main event will happen on February 15, 2010 at 1:30p.m. on the first floor of the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute. If you have cancer or know some one who dose please join us. If you do not live in this area call 1-800-395-LOOK to find one in your area. It will be worth the call.

I am sure most of you watched the benefit on t.v. tonite for Haiti. I know that I could not stop watching. I hope you were in the position to give even if it was just a little bit. Most of us on our worst day could not imagine what these people are going through. We have so many resources in America that most of us take for granted or forget about that these people have probably never even thought about. I hope that you take a moment to be thankful for the services and opportunities we have in America, our family, and the ability we have to help others.

The ability to help others is a very big part of why I think America is so great. Even during our trials and tribulations we are still helping others in need. If everyone did just one small thing it would make a a very big difference. What these people are asking for is small basic needs. Water, something we just go to the faucet for. It is clean and pure and we do not think twice about throwing the last of the glass down the drain. These people have no water, food, or medicine. Not only do they not have these things but are having hard time getting these things at all. There is so much to be done. Please do just one small part to help these people. One day it could be you that just needs that little bit of water.
I have a lot to be thankful for. Today my husband helped me clean out the garage. Wooo hooo. That's a big deal at my house. My husband never wants to clean it out because it always seems be an over whelming task and I feel I can't do it by myself because it can take quite a bit of strength sometimes but we are always so happy in the end that we did it. Sometimes we even find really cool stuff that we forgot we had.

Cleaning out the garage can be like fighting cancer you don't want to do it. You put it off. It's scary and maybe you don't have a husband to help you do the heavy lifting. The American Cancer Society is there for you. They can get you on the right track, answer your fears, and do "a lot of heavy lifting" for you. It is all free any time you need. No waiting around for your husband to get done watching the game. Just get right in there and get the job done.

If you know some one who needs services from the American Cancer Society please encourage them to call. They can do so much to help any time of day. Just call.

Well I was happy to see today that I have a few new followers. How cool is that. It just let's me know that every body wants to hear a story. As a hair stylist I hear alot of story's. If you can think of some of the story you tell your hair stylist.

What I am telling through this blog is my story or journey of listening to women's story's about having cancer and what they go through. Women can do so many things. They are all amazing in what they do. Fighting cancer is one of them.

Look Good... Feel Better sponsored by American Cancer Society is helping these women put there best face forward to the fight of cancer. Women have so many things taken away or changed during there fight against cancer the least we can do is to support a program that gives them back there dignity to look and feel like the beautiful women they are.

I was doing a ladies daughters hair today and the more we talked and told the stories that women tell in the salon. She began to tell me about her fight with breast cancer and how everything affected her during her treatment and reconstruction. One of the things that kept her feeling like herself was the Look Good... Feel Better program. Not only did this program help her feel like her self during the fight but the American Cancer Society constantly let her know she had some one to turn to. Some one to talk to and get advice from. What a great feeling to know there is always someone there for you.

After the day was over I knew that I made the right choice to listen to her story. She thought that I was helping her but really she was helping me. Helping me to understand the face of cancer. Cancer Affects one in three people. Help me change the face of cancer. Hope is Beautiful. Give it to someone today.

So happy the New 2010 year is here. It is time for a fresh start to a new year. One of the things women sometimes do for a Farah start in the new year is get a make over. The Look Good... Feel Better program sponsored by the American Cancer Society dose the same thing for women with cancer all through out the year. When ever women are diagnosed with cancer they can call 1-800-394-LOOK and set up for a FREE make over to help them combat the physical side effects of cancer treatment.

The Look Good... Feel Better program is in all 50 states and most cities and what they do is give women the chance to come to gether and deal with everything that goes on with women having cancer and going through the treatment of cancer. A licenced cosmetologist like myself leads the group in all of the steps of how to clense and take care of your skin and nails, do your make up, make a turbin, and pick out a wig. All of this is FREE! Plus yu get to keep all of the wonderful poducts donated by the care products councel foundation. The American Cancer Society also donates a wig to them as well.

What better way to start off than with a Look Good... Feel Better make over. If you have cancer call 1-800-394-LOOK and get your FREE make over to day. Put your best face forward and change the face of cancer. Hope is Beautiful and I know you are Beautiful too.
So I hope everyone made it through the holidays. I know mine was very busy with family, friends, and food.

It is on for a new year and a fresh start for everyone. My freshest project will be implementing a Look Good... Feel Better program at the UAMS Hospital in Little Rock, AR for the very first time. They are one of the leading cancer institutes in America for cancer patients but until now have never had a Look Good... Feel Better program Sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

The American Cancer Society is a wonderful resource for people with or going through cancer treatment or for a caregiver taking care of someone with or going through cancer treatment. They have so much to offer for free and that can be a big help during these times. Call The American Cancer Society today to see how they can help you fight cancer. Remember Hope is Beautiful and The American Cancer Society gives us that HOPE with support and research.
